A former Tottenham and Villa striker Darren Bent, has tipped England shotstopper Aaron Ramsdale to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Arsenal captain.
Current Gunners skipper Aubameyang has found himself out of favour under Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners spent £30million to sign the goalkeeper from Sheffield United during the summer and the 21-year-old has proved his worth in style with a number of imperious displays between the sticks.
Aubameyang was dropped from Arsenal squad against Southampton on Saturday over disciplinary breach and reports in England suggest he would be stripped off the captain armband.
“I’d probably say Ramsdale,” Bent responded when asked who should take the armband at the Emirates on talkSPORT.
“If Tierney could guarantee that he’s going to play every single week, then yeah, but other than him it’s got to be Ramsdale as he’s the only player who’s going to play every single week.”
Speaking about the Tomiyasu’s chances of getting the armband, Bent added: “I’m not sure he’s captain material.
“When I think about Arsenal captain, I think Ramsdale has that presence that other’s don’t.”
