British ace journalist and die-hard Arsenal fan, Piers Morgan has revealed that Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo sent him a mock apology after scoring twice in Red Devils’ 3-2 win over the Gunners at the start of the month.
Ronaldo netted twice in the game as they came from behind to beat Arsenal in a thriller at Old Trafford on December 2.
But before the game, Morgan said he had sent a text message to the Portugal international, pleading with him not to score against Arsenal.
Morgan famously interviewed the former Real Madrid and Juventus star in the past and has struck up a friendship with him.
And after the match, however, Morgan did eventually get a reply from Ronaldo, telling him ‘sorry.’
Morgan wrote in his Daily Mail column: “Arsenal played Manchester United and I sent Cristiano Ronaldo a desperate plea before kick-off, ‘Please don’t score against us…’
“Of course, he scored twice, and United won 3-2. ‘Sorry,’ Cristiano texted back after the final whistle.
“I would have accepted the apology if it hadn’t also contained a laughing emoji.”
