Former Manchester United striker, Teddy Sheringham has identified Paris Saint-Germain boss, Mauricio Pochettino, and Leicester City head coach, Brendan Rodgers, as the ‘perfect’ manager to succeed Ralf Rangnick at Old Trafford.
Rangnick was appointed as Man United interim manager last month following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 63-year-old agreed to a six months deal before he will then take up a two-year consultancy role at the club and speculation surrounding his successor has already begun.
But Sheringham thinks Pochettino would be an ideal candidate to replace Rangnick at the end of the 2021/22 season.
However, he also admitted that he thinks Rodgers has what it takes to take over the reins at United
“I think Pochettino or Rodgers would be quite perfect for the [Manchester United] job,” Sheringham told the MEN.
“Brendan [Rodgers] is very calm in the way that he works things for his football teams, he gets results, he wins things, he won the FA Cup last year, so he’ll be delighted with that. But also the way Pochettino plays his football, the way he dictates a lot of games.
“He takes the game to the opposition. His teams play with an identity that you want from a manager.
“You want to know how you’re going to play a game. You can see what he’s trying to work at. And I think, you know, he has that demeanor that would make him an ideal candidate for the Manchester United job as well.”
