1. The Nigerian Army yesterday, revealed that 48 Boko Haram terrorists were neutralised by troops of 28 Task Force Brigade under Operation Lafiya Dole in Borno State. The Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima said this in a statement on Saturday.

2. Biafra Nations League, BNL, yesterday warned the Nigeria security operatives against arresting its officers in Bakassi Peninsula. The BNL gave the warning in a statement issued by its National Leader, Princewill C Richard, Deputy National Leader, Ebuta Akor Takon, Chief of Staff, Linus Essien. They said they will react should the government arrest its members.

3. Bandits who abducted 8 members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, on their way to Kafanchan from Kaduna, have demanded N50 million as the condition for their release.

4. The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, on Friday, threatened to resign from the position if he is asked to compromise. Bawa said this when he featured on the NTA interview programme One-on-One on Friday.

5. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Saturday, apprehended a 70-year-old drug trafficker, Mohammed Rabiu Wada, who supplies illicit substances to Boko Haram insurgents and bandits.

6. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC) has listed the Nigeria Police, Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) as the seven worst bribe-takers in Nigeria.

7. Gunmen have allegedly abducted the collation officer for the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Aba North council, Engr. Mike Ozoemena, during the bye-election for Aba North/South federal constituency held yesterday. Abia State APC Publicity Secretary, Benedict Godson, confirmed the incident.

8. As part of the preparations towards the anticipated launch of electronic voting in the forthcoming elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission yesterday, said it has commenced the analysis of the various electronic voting machines showcased by over 50 companies.

9. National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, on Saturday said Nigeria needed to address what he described as “deep and widespread poverty” as part of the measures to tackle insecurity, unemployment and extremism in the country. Tinubu stated this at the 2021 annual Arewa House lecture.

10. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has announced 101 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in eleven states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The development brings the total number of confirmed infections so far to 162,489.
