1. Three students out of the five who allegedly bullied late Dowen College Student, Sylvester Oromoni to death have been arrested. Hakeem Odumosu, Lagos state commissioner of police confirmed the arrest on Tuesday.
2. A suspected bandit currently in Police net in Katsina State has confessed to being part of the gang that kill the District Head of Yantumaki community, Abubakar Atiku and his watchman. The suspect made the confession while being paraded by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP. Isah Gambo.
3. About ten seasonal migrants have been burnt to death at Gidan Bawa village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State by suspected bandits. The migrants were said to be on their way to Gadan Gayan in Kaduna en-route to Southern part of the country in search of livelihood before their vehicle was ambushed and set ablaze.
4. A Catholic Priest, Reverend Father Joseph Ajayi, has been abducted along the Akure-Ikere Road in Ondo State. The priest was said to be traveling alone when the sad incident occurred. A family source said the incident occurred on Monday while the clergyman was travelling in his Toyota Corolla Sedan car.
5. Governors of the 36 states of the federation have rejected the ban imposed on Nigeria by Canada and the United Kingdom. In a statement on Tuesday, Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, said it was unfair that Nigeria was listed among countries placed on travel ban, despite having few cases of the variant detected less than a week ago.
6. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) yesterday, said it is committed to clamping down on the consumption of methamphetamine, popularly known as mkpurummiri, noting that the consequences on mental health are worrisome to the society. Mr Isah Adoro, Commander of NDLEA, Ebonyi Command made this known on Tuesday.
7. The Senate Tuesday passed two bills seeking to establish the National Sports Commission and the Federal University of Sports, Nkalagu in Ebonyi State. The Bills were read the third time and passed. The passage of both bills during plenary was sequel to the consideration of two separate reports by the Committee on Sports and Youth Development.
8. The House of Representatives, Tuesday, mandated the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba to ensure that justice was duly served in the death of 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni Jr, who was a student of Dowen college in the Lekki, Lagos State. The house also demanded the placement of the 5 students allegedly involved in the matter on no fly list.
9. Federal and Lagos State governments on Tuesday got tougher with the enforcement of their directives on compulsory COVID-19 vaccination. The FG which on December 1 disallowed unvaccinated civil servants from accessing their offices, has also barred visitors that were not vaccinated from government buildings in Abuja. Lagos Government also stated yesterday that all attendees of social events in the state must present their vaccination cards.
10. Aggrieved youths on Tuesday razed a building belonging to a pastor attached to the Redeemed Christian Church in Adebun Area of Ado-Ekiti over the death of a seven-year-old girl. It was gathered that the lifeless body of the girl, identified as Demilade, was allegedly found in the pastor’s house.
