1. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd has dismissed fears of petrol scarcity amid panic buying in Abuja, others. In a statement on Tuesday, the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, NNPC, Garba Deen Muhammad, cautioned Nigerians against panic buying in the yuletide period.
2. The United Kingdom has agreed to remove Nigeria and other 10 countries from its travel red list from today (Wednesday). Speaking to the UK parliament on Tuesday, the UK Health Secretary, Sajid Javid said the Omicron had spread so widely that the rules are now less effective.
3. The Department of State Services, DSS, on Tuesday, refuted claims of maltreating Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in its custody. DSS Public Relations Officer, Peter Afunanya, disclosed that Kanu is treated like a Very Important Person, VIP, adding that he has access to medical doctors.
4. The Senate on Tuesday in Abuja received a request from President Muhammadu Buhari to confirm the appointment of six nominees as National Commissioners, and one other as Resident Electoral Commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
5. The federal government collected the sum of N7 trillion through the Treasury Single Account between January and November, this year. The Minister of Finance, Budget and national Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, disclosed this while inaugurating TSA Supervisory Board and Inter-Ministerial TSA Implementation Committee, in Abuja, yesterday.
6. National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured his teeming supporters and other Nigerians across the country that he will not turn down their clamour for him to be the next President of the country. Tinubu made the declaration on Tuesday in Abuja after a closed-door meeting with members of the Northern Alliance Committee.
7. President Muhammadu Buhari says Nigeria will keep pledges made to the ECOWAS Parliament, and to the sub-regional body at large. The president gave the assurance when he received a team from ECOWAS Parliament, led by the Speaker, Dr Sidie Mohammed Tunis, in the State House, Abuja, on Tuesday.
8. A 37-year-old man, Azeez Ilias, identified as the son of a traditional ruler in the Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State, and a woman, identified only as Deborah, have been found dead in a car parked in front of a building in Ago Egun, Idiroko. While they were found naked, their clothes were not in the Toyota Camry, said to be owned by Ilias.
9. Former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation in Nigeria, especially in the north. In an interview on Tuesday, he said allowing the situation to linger without being checked is the reason why it is now taking another dimension.
10. The Department of State Services on Tuesday said federal lawmakers who will soon begin their recess and other vacating public and private workers were susceptible to kidnapping, assassinations and armed robbery among others during this period. The services’ Public Relations Officer, Dr Peter Afunanya, handed down the warning at a press briefing in Abuja.
