Chelsea is set for a shock move to sign €70m-rated Brazil star, Casemiro, from Real Madrid, El Nacional reports.
The Premier League giants have joined the battle to add Casemiro to Thomas Tuchel’s squad next year.
The Blues will need to table a bid worth €60m to sign the midfielder, with Real Madrid set to discuss a move if their valuation is met.
Casemiro is widely regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world, having gone from strength to strength during his stint with the Los Blancos.
The 29-year-old has played 307 games for Real Madrid, scoring 30 goals and registering 27 assists in the process.
However, Real Madrid are considering the prospect of cashing in on Casemiro in the wake of poor displays in the first half of the current season. Such a situation has alerted Chelsea.
Real Madrid are believed to have already identified Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, as a replacement for Casemiro, who has a contract at Santiago Bernabeu until June 2025.
The interest from Chelsea is understandable despite the presence of the likes of N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic, in addition to the resurgence of Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
That is because Chelsea are unlikely to add Saul Niguez permanently, while Ross Barkley is expected to be sold.
