EPL: Agbonlahor names only Man Utd player that’ve adapted to Rangnick’s style

Aston Villa legend, Gabby Agbonlahor has identified Cristiano Ronaldo as the only Manchester United player who has adapted to the Ralf Rangnick’s pressing football.

Interim boss, Ralf Rangnick continued his perfect start in the Premier League but Agbonlahor believes nothing has changed at the club since the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s second-half penalty saw Ralf Rangnick’s men go level on points with fourth-placed West Ham as they scraped a 1-0 win over Norwich.

Agbonlahor says Man United are no different to how they were under Rangnick’s predecessor, Solskjaer.

Agbonlahor added that Jadon Sancho was ‘quite poor’ during the game against Norwich, while Ronaldo was the only player who contributed towards the press.

“I understand that Norwich are fighting for their life and are going to put you under pressure but I didn’t see any difference from the Solskjaer reign for Man United,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.

“There was no difference in performance.

“I thought Sancho was quite poor. He’s getting a lot of chances, he showed little glimpses… maybe at Borussia Dortmund he had more of a free role and maybe now he has to keep his position more.

“Watching Manchester United today was no different [from how they were under Solskjaer] for me. All I saw was Sancho and Bruno Fernandes playing more narrowly.

“There was no difference in the pressing. The only person I saw pressing in the first half was Ronaldo. When he gave the ball away he went and got it back.

“There wasn’t that press and intensity that everyone was excited about for this new Manchester United manager.

“For me, the jury’s still out. If it wasn’t for David de Gea, Norwich probably would’ve won the game.

“United should be beating Norwich 4-0 with the quality they have.”
