West Ham vs Arsenal: David Moyes lauds Arteta over decision on Aubameyang

West Ham United boss, David Moyes, has lauded Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s decision to drop Captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the Gunners’ north London derby 2-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur on March 14.

Moyes, who managed Arteta during their time together at Everton, said the Spaniard made the right decision.

Recall that Aubameyang was left on the bench last Sunday by Arteta after he arrived late at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gabonese striker and Arteta have both insisted earlier this week that the situation has now been resolved.

Reacting to the development during his pre-match press conference ahead of West Ham’s Premier League clash with Arsenal on Sunday evening, Moyes told reporters: “Where do you think he [Mikel Arteta] learnt that from?

“In the industry, we are in. This job is really tough. Nowadays, it is hard enough for managers.

“If you don’t work and go along with the things, then you will not be there. It doesn’t matter how good you are.

“It is like any business or anyone, people who work in their job, if you don’t do the right things, or if you don’t get your work in on time, or you don’t turn up on time, you will soon feel things coming down on you.

“So in the football club, it is even more important, because we have to make sure we keep control of a lot of players with big egos, big personalities.

“He made the right decision, didn’t he, and always it will be the results which judge your decisions. Whether he had won or lost, it was the right decision.”
